While in undergrad, I tutored many athletes in math and lower sciences. I learned that it wasn't that they could understand the material it was the way they were taught. I have a knack for being able to explain the same concept in laymen terms so that it can be understood on all levels.
During my sessions I never claim to know everything, because I don't. I let my students know that it's okay to make a mistake; through mistakes, we can often find how the train of thought for a particular solution came about for a problem. Learning from those mistakes and being willing to go back and correct a mistake are my goals for my students. I've learned that most students need that "push" or reassurance in the right direction to invoke thought processes.
I have tutored 8th and 9th graders for their EOC test in Geometry, Algebra I and II. I also tutor college students in some chemistry and physics courses. I can tutor Calculus 1, 2, and 3 and Multivariable Calculus.
