Rice University (Biological Sciences)
UTHSCSA Medical School (Enrolled)
Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! I am a full-time consultant, professional writer, and business owner with a medical educational background. I was formerly an afterschool teacher and curriculum developer.
I am on Wyzant because I enjoy tutoring as a personal hobby. Tutoring is a pastime and not a job for me, so unfortunately, I will not be able to take on more than one or two students at a time. For this reason, my listed fee is on the middle to higher end as far as tutor rates go. I guarantee that the quality of my services and expertise will make my time worth every dollar. I have established great relationships with all of my students and their families, and my teaching technique is without parallel. I place a great emphasis on equipping the student to think strategically, so that he or she is able to continue improving independently even when our lesson is over.
What to Expect:
If I am available, I will arrange for a phone chat with you, and we can discuss your goals, resources, background, and desired meeting times. Our sessions will most often take place on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday. I bring success to those who want it. Be prepared to work hard!
I have taught in both a classroom and one-on-one setting for over 1200 hours, most of which were during my stint working as an instructor at a private after school institution in Pearland. Nearly all of my students became advanced while working under my program, with the majority of them doing math one year ahead of their grade level and finding their schoolwork incredibly easy as a result.
My undergraduate degree is from Rice University, where I double majored in Biological Sciences and Psychology. I possess an excellent track record with standardized tests, including multiple perfect score performances.
Subjects I have taught include math (all levels through high school plus graduate school examinations), science (physics, chemistry, biology, college level sciences, and more), standardized test prep (SAT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, STAAR, TAKS, AP, and others), chess and game theory, violin, reading/writing (both mechanics as well as style), biblical studies, and tennis summer camp. I am available to tutor for all levels of proficiency, whether that means struggling to pass, trying to make an A or B, or even competition level knowledge. I have experience teaching special needs children as well, such as those with autism. My youngest students were age 5 and my oldest were in their 50s and 60s.
The full list of subjects I am available to teach can be viewed by clicking the "subjects" tab. I am also available for hire for personal consult for the following services: college and graduate school applications, paper editor (I have written at the professional level for years and served as chief editor of an Amazon bestseller), fitness and diet/nutrition/weight loss. If you want to become a doctor, I can teach you how to get into medical school. How many tutors on here offer that level of service? :)

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied the Bible for over a decade. I taught weekly classes on scripture for over 2 years. I have studied many supplemental texts and commentaries, especially those of David Guzik and Matthew Henry.
I scored top 4% in GRE verbal. I scored top 12% in GRE quantitative. I scored top 7% in GRE writing. I have tutored for several years. I have a solid schematic for teaching GRE strategies in order of topic, which mirrors the structure used by Barron's.
My MCAT score is a 33T. It's in the top 10% of scores. It got me into medical school.
I took both semesters of organic chemistry, one of which was under Dr. James Tour, considered one of the best organic chemists in the nation. I took orgo lab. I got into medical school. I have tutored organic chemistry before. It's an easy subject to me.
I have taken six semesters of physics. I have tutored for several years. I have tutored physics for 1 year. Physics is one of my favorite subjects, and I can make it very easy to understand for students.
I am a veteran orator. I have chaired multiple student organizations and have presented for all of them, one of which included monthly speeches to audiences of over 100. I have many years of tutoring experience and am versed in nuanced public speaking techniques, including pacing, avoiding jargon, enunciation, utilizing space, etc.
I scored a perfect score on SAT I math and SAT II math every time I took either test. I have tutored students in SAT (all sections) for years. I have also tutored all math from K-12+ for several years, including SAT I, SAT II, ACT, STAAR, TAKS, GRE, GMAT, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, etc.
I scored in the top 1% when I first took this exam as a high schooler. Since then, I have tutored for several years in many subjects. I am well-versed in this topic and can teach strategies such as deducing the answer to a verbal question when the answer choices are unfamiliar. I tutor verbal/reading for graduate level standardized tests as well, such as the MCAT, the GRE, and the GMAT.
I didn't miss a single question in SAT writing when I took it years ago. I have been tutoring SAT for many years since. I know how the exam graders think and can teach the most efficient method for achieving a high score on the essay portion.
I used to tutor for the TAKS. I have had hundreds of hours of experience teaching students at and near the age where they take the TAKS.
I coached junior league tennis three years in a row. I played varsity in high school. I played club in college and toured with my school.
I have been playing the violin for 20 years. I have been concertmaster in multiple orchestras, section lead at the all-state level, led chambers, performed as a soloist, etc. I have received numerous medals. I have taught violin before.
