I received my Bachelor's degree in Music from St. Procopius College in 1977, and have taught classical music history since 2008. Performing choral works of modern composers also keeps me current on the trends in music history over the past 50 years.
Since I received my Music degree in 1977, I have directed choirs, which requires a degree of sight singing. My current choir is a Gregorian Chant Schola which sings a weekly High Mass with Chant and Polyphony strictly a capella. This requires singing a large amount of repertoire at sight, or with very little practice. I teach the Schola sight singing in order for them to learn the music, and over the past 5 years they have become quite proficient in it.
