About Michael

I have extensive experience as a tutor and teacher. I prefer tutoring because I find that it works better for focusing on the needs of the student. Nevertheless, I recently worked as a secondary school teacher for a local high school district.

The knowledge I acquired in my fields required years of intense studies. I learn and tutor concepts and fundamentals, not quick memorization or speedy solutions. This approach will give you a solid base in the subjects that you want to learn, as opposed to a tutor whose subjects came to him quickly and easily.

I received good grades in math courses at university including through Real Analysis I. The same is true of my undergraduate and graduate level coursework in statistics. I was the instructor of Introductory Statistics for 3 semesters at a community college in SF.

Semi-native speaker of French who has lived in metropolitan France for a total of almost 2 years. I received a grade of A+ in a French Phonetics course at a UC school.

I have several master's degrees in both economics and international finance. I also have several semesters and quarters of experience as a UC teaching assistant in economics. I was the instructor for several semesters of economics courses at Northern California community colleges.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Knowledgeable tutor

Michael was very helpful in reviewing the information I had brought to the session. He was able to go through my solutions and then provide additional help in areas where I could have strengthened my arguments.
