About Ezekiel

I am a recently graduated college student from Michigan with an intense passion for teaching. In the past three years, I have taught almost 200 students from school and club setting about chess.

When I teach I try to instill a deep love for the subject matter. My philosophy is that a student cannot be forced to learn but must want to learn. I achieve this by individualizing my lessons for each student and their playing style. Everyone learns differently and each lesson reflects this fact.

Before our first lesson, I encourage students to tell me a little about themselves and to also send me some of their games. During our first lesson, I try to establish a baseline of skill and playing style. At the end of our lessons and, only If the student wishes, fun work may be assigned to reinforce concepts learned during the lesson.

I am currently rated 1764 USCF. In 2015, I was the Michigan class C champion while in 2017 I earned the class B title. In 2014, I was vice-president of Michigan State's chess club and the following year I was the president.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chess

Currently employed chess instructor for 3&Up Game Lounge. In 2013 I was vice president of the Michigan State chess club while in 2014 I was the president.

Great!

My son has had several lessons and we love Ezekiel. He even sent an extra lesson to us so my son could practice. He has patiently worked with our schedule and most importantly, patiently worked with my son. We will most certainly keep using EH for our chess lessons!
