Hi Kinder!   Here's one angle on this ...

Look at the "49" -- whose sq. root is 7

thus, (x-7)(x-7) = x^2 -14x + 49

thus, (x-7)(x-7) = 9,  which x's will give you 3 X 3, or -3 X -3?
