The equation to model this situation is:

 

 450+1/8*x>2000

        1/8*x>1550 Multiply both sides of the equation by 8.

 

x>12400 Hence, you must generate more the $12,400 in sales to earn more than $2000.

solve for sales 

 

sales > (2000  - 450 ) * 8
