The units digit of a two-digit number is twice the tens digit. If the digits are reversed, the new number is 18 more than the original number. Find the original number.

Step 1: Set two variables: x = the digit in the 10s place, y = the digit in the ones place.

Step 2: Realize that the value of this number is 10x +y. For example, if x is 3 and y is 6, the value is 36

Step 3: We're told that is we reverse x and y, the value will be 18 more than it was before. That says that 10x+ y +18 = 10y + x. Be sure you understand how I got that equation, if not please ask
