Consecutive even numbers have a difference of 2. For example, 6 and 8 have a difference of 2.
First consecutive number would be x
Second consecutive number would be x + 2
Third consecutive number would be x + 4
Then the sum would be x + (x+2) + (x+4), which is equal to -84
x + x + 2 + x + 4 = -84
3x + 6 = -84
3x = -90 (subtract by 6 on both sides)
x = -30 (divide by 3 on both sides)
First consecutive number is -30
Second consecutive number is -28
Third consecutive number is -26
