It's very common to drop the ה sound. Personally it bugs me when people do that. My last name begins with an H in English and a ה in Hebrew, and when I was in Israel I once received a letter that spelled my last name with an א instead of a ה because of the Israeli tendency not to pronounce the ה sound. The fact that it's common does not make it correct.
