On the LSAT, is it ever advisable to do the Logic Games sections out of order?

If you are able to complete all of the logic games, you should do them in order. If you are only able to complete three of the four logic games, you should complete the first 2, then look at which game (3 or 4) has the most questions, and complete that one. if you are only able to complete 2, it is generally best to do the first 2 as those are likely to be the easiest.

You should attempt each game in order, because you have no idea which games will be easy and which will be difficult. Most of the time the first game in an LG section is the easiest, but there are exceptions to that rule. Also, some game types (sequencing) tend to be easier for most students, but there are some exceptionally challenging sequencing games and hybrid sequencing games.

Practice games over and over again until you are seeing inferences more naturally. If you get stuck and cannot figure out the key inference to figuring out the game, don't waste too much time before you skip it and move on. Sometimes coming back to a game at the end of the section allows your brain to refocus and figure out the key. If you try to brute force your way through a challenging game you may be wasting valuable time and losing points on easier games later on in the section.

There are a number of circumstances that favor answering games in analytical reasoning out of the order that they are presented. For instance, if you are slow and cannot complete all games, you should do the easier ones first because a correct answer on an easy game counts as much as a correct answer on a difficult game. Some test takers also find it easier to answer all games of the same type (sequencing, grouping, hybrid, series, etc.) in order to help them focus on using the right methods.
