In general, the higher ranked the school, the more picky they are able to be. That's because they get a ton of extremely qualified applicants (high LSAT scores and GPA's) to choose from. Plus they have a high yield; most of the people admitted end up attending, so they don't need to admit that many students.
So to answer your question, Yale, Stanford, and Harvard are sort of in a tier of their own when it comes to placing emphasis on soft factors. Now, you still need high numbers for your soft factors to even be considered. But if you have high numbers, strong softs will likely carry more weight than at a lower ranked school, just because they can choose to be more picky about who they admit.
