Perpendicular means the slope are negative reciprocal ( change the sign and flip the slope)
Y = mx + b (m is the slope which is -3 = -3/1 in your )
Perpendicular slope would be +1/3
Using Y = mx +b we know the perpendicular slope now, so plug in
Y = (1/3)x + b (2,6) is a point (x,y) so plug in
6 = (1/3)(2) + b
6 = 2/3 + b multiplied by 2
-2/3 -2/3 subtract -2/3 on both sides
16/3 = b
So y = (1/3)x + 16/3
