Well to use the square root property we need to isolate the x². To do that we first need to subtract 5 from each side.

 

We are left with x²=4. Next, we must take the square root of each side to get rid of our squared term. 

 

When we do that we are left with x=√4.

 

4 is a perfect square so we are left with x=±2.
