Jane went to the store and bought 4 items. She was adding up the total cost and noticed something fun: when she added the items' prices it came up to the same number as multiplying the items' prices. If three items were priced $1.50, $3.00 and $4.00, what was the price of the fourth?

1.5+3+4+x=(1.5)(3)(4)(x)

8.5+x=18x

8.5=18x-x

8.5=17x

85=170x

x=85/170

x=0.5

x=$0.50 is the price of the fourth item
