I'm guessing you mean 12 years and 4 times...

x=Brandon's age

x+12=Michael's age

(x+12)-17=4(x-17)

x-5=4x-68

68-5=4x-x

63=3x

x=63/3

x=21 years old for Brandon

x+12=33 years old for Michael

check: 33-17=16, 21-17=4 and 16 is 4 times 4
