m-3 = 4(s-3)

m-3 = 4s - 12   Equation 2

 

From equation 1:  m = 31-s

substitute that into equation 2 and solve for s

 

31 - s - 3 = 4s - 12

28 - s = 4s - 12

28 + 12 = 4s + s

40 = 5s

8 = s

 

Savita is 8 years old

Now just use m = 31-s to find Manish's age
