find the y-intercept, find the x-intercept, find the vertex, sketch the graph, on what interval is the relation increasing, on what interval is the decreasing for y=x^2-2x i'm sorry that this is kind of a long question.

y intercept occurs when x=0; so what do you get for y?

 

vertex occurs when x = -b/(2a); plug in a=2, b=-2 to get that x value;  call it "h".

then evaluate y for the above x value, thus giving the y value at vertex; it's called "k", so vertex is V(h,k).

 

since a=1>0, parabola opens upward, so this function is decreasing on the interval (-infinity, h) and increasing everywhere else.

 

use the information found to sketch the graph.
