what is the answer for x-4<5

I don't understand how to solve this type of equation on a number line, I am a sixth grader.

x-4<5

 

The goal is to get the x by itself.  Add 4 to both sides:

 

x - 4 + 4 < 5 + 5

 

Now -4 + 4 = 0, s0:

 

x + 0 < 9

x < 9

 

On a number line, it's all of the numbers to the left of 9.  We put an open circle on 9 because it is not included in the solution (we want numbers less than 9, but not 9 or more).
