Two cars leave town at the same time going in the same direction. One travels at 50 mph and the other travels at 67 mph. In how many hours will they be 34 mi apart?

Answer 1

car 1:  v = 50 mph

car 2:  u = 67 mph

 

ut - vt = 34 miles

 

t(u - v) = 34

 

t = 34/(u -v) = 34/(67 - 50) hours = 2 hours
