There are two endpoints that form a line, (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂). The x-coordinate of the midpoint is the average of the two x-coordinates of the endpoints, or ((x₁+x₂)/2). The same concept is applied to the y-coordinates.

 

Thus the midpoint in general form is: ((x1+x₂)/2,(y₁+y₂)/2)
