asked 12/28/17British-African Slavery Interaction? Help?
I'm trying to write a book revolving around British (mainly London) involvement in African slavery. What country and time period should I focus, did the British own slaves themselves and is there any person or people in history I should reference?
P.S. It's about a 10-year-old African girl (I can't decide from what country yet) who sneaks on a ship to London after her sister gets taken as a slave and soon she goes on a murder frenzy on white men in the city. I'm trying to find a way to make this as realistic as possible, so that would help.

If you haven't already, I'd research how the British took over the asiento system from the Spanish. Mark's suggestion about the sugar plantations is also great.
Many slave ships sailed out of Liverpool in the UK, and of course the New England colonies were involved in the slave trade as part of the triangle trade in the mercantilist trade system.
