I'm an experienced, retired New York City public high school teacher. I've taught AP United States and European History, and have been a table reader for both exams--I've actually graded the essays for the College Board. This experience gives me a broader insight into the tests and how to prepare for them than many other teachers. I have also taught regular Regents level courses in United States History and Government and Global History and Geography. My test results have been excellent! I know the tests and the content!
I have also taught numerous electives, such as Participation in Government, Financial Literacy, and several law courses (I'm a member of the New York State Bar, but I no longer practice law). I emphasize study skills, literacy, essay writing, and content mastery as keys to academic success. I believe that there are several keys to academic success: a student's desire to succeed, a firm foundation in study skills, literacy, and support from parents and teachers. Content knowledge mastery will result from all of these.

My sons just had their first global tutoring session yesterday and as Ken left they told me that they already learned quite a bit! We plan to book future sessions with him again.
Ken is a really good teacher. He is very patient and responsible. He is knowledgeable and always prepared. My son is making progresses and getting confidence on US history with Ken's help.
Kenneth is not only a very nice guy and knowledgeable in social studies, he knows how to break it down into manageable bites that get through. It's one thing to know something and another to convey in a manner that's understood before Attention drops, and Kenneth accomplishes that with flying colors!!!! I'm very happy with the work being done and feel lucky to have Kenneth as our sons tutor.
Thanks for tutoring my son on AP US Government and politics. He is extremely happy to learn a lot from you. Really really appreciate your help and guidance.
Ken is most definitely knowledgeable in Global History. During the last session, he was able to deliver the information in a clear and concise way. My daughter was not grasping the context she was reading in the review books. Having someone knowledgeable go over it in a more clear and concise way with little tips and tidbits of ways to remember key things was very helpful. I can definitely see my daughter obtaining a better sense of knowledge on Global History as Ken makes his way through the different topics.
Mr. Kenneth was a very knowledgeable teacher, and helped me to feel confident on the AP US History Test! He was always there when I had a question, and was always there when I needed his help. Would definitely recommend for APUSH.
Ken has been wonderful working with my son. He is very patient and always goes the extra mile to be sure my son knows the material. My son's FRQS grades dramatically increased after only a couple of sessions with Ken. We are very happy to have found him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught AP US History for more than 5 years in public schools and Regents-level US History and Government for more than seven years, both with excellent passing rates. I have also been trained to grade the AP essays for the College Board and graded the actual essays for the College Board for 3 years. I know the course and the revised requirements for the course quite well. I have used that training to help my students achieve a great deal of success on the exam and mastery of the US history content.
I have a Juris Doctorate degree, and am currently admitted to practice law in the State of New York. When I practiced law full time, I represented several clients in criminal matters. When I was a legal editor, I often did research and classifications of cases dealing with criminal law and procedure.
I taught AP European History for over 4 years in private and public schools with an overall passing rate that was way above the national average. I also graded the actual test essays for the College Board one year. I am quite familiar with the new revisions to the AP European test, and can help students achieve mastery of the subject in a clear and understandable way.
I have taught Participation in Government at the high school level for many years. I have a J.D. degree, and a B.A. in Political Science. I also have been tutoring AP US Government. I know the subject matter rather well and can help students understand the basic themes and complexities of Government in a clear and meaningful way.
I received my B.A. in Political Science from SUNY at Buffalo in 1979. My cumulative average was a 2.9 out of 4.0 in my major. I also have a Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law. I have successfully taught Participation in Government in the New York City public high schools, and my specialty is Constitutional Law.
I have taught Global History 9 and 10 with excellent student results on the New York Sate Regents.
Additionally, I taught AP European History for four years and graded the essays for the College Board, so I know the subject rather well and am very familiar with coaching students to be superb essay writers.
