Hi Robert,
This is a pretty straight forward substitution.
We have two equations:
x+y=6 and x=2y
Since we know that x is the same as 2y, replace x with 2y in 1st equation
and solve it for y.
2y + y = 6
3y = 6
y = 6/3
y = 2
Now we know the value of y,
Use x=2y to find x
x = 2(2) = 4
x = 4, y = 2
