A certain number of toffees are distributed among group of students if each child gets 8 toffees 4 are left,If each child gets 9 toffees 5 more toffee are needed 

Construct a simultaneous equation taking 

Number of toffees as X and the number of students as Y

c represents the number of children

t represents the number of toffees

 

8c = t - 4    children get 4 less than the number of toffees

9c = t + 5   5 more toffees are need to supply the children

 

Now solve for c, then for t.
