well i don't really understand the example in my math textbook so i need some examples for the question.

1.5 cups/day x 1 gallon/16 cups x 7 days/week = 0.66 gallons in 1 week.

 

This is done using dimensional analysis, where you set up the units that you want to cancel (e.g. cups and days), and leaves the units you want, e.g. gallons and weeks.
