Any linear function is of the form y = f(x) = M x + b where M is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
This is the MASTER EQUATION.
f(-6) = -2 means that when x = -6 then y = -2 or the ordered pair ( -6,-2) is on the line.
The slope is given to be M=1/3
Plugging these into the MASTER EQUATION:
-2 = (1/3)(-6) + B
-2 = -6/3 + B
-2 = -2 + B
B = 0
So there is no y-intercept after all.
The linear function is just y = f(x) = (1/3)x
