To answer this question I would first change the time of one location to the local time of the other. So for this example, we can change Tokyo to be the same as Dawson. The difference between a -8 timezone and +9 timezone is 9 - - 8 (double negative) which is 9+8 = 17 hour difference. 4pm in military time is 16:00 so if we subtract 17 hours, then we get -1:00 or 23:00 on Monday. If we left at 6:00 on Monday and arrived 23:00 on Monday, then the flight should be 23-6 = 17 hours. If you are still confused, please message me for a more thorough walk through. :)

Then you would just add 17hours to 6:00 so it would be 23:00pm Tokyo time when it is 6am in Dawson.

so tokyo time ie 23.00 (when it is 6.00 am in Dawson) needs to be compared against 4.00 pm ie. 16.00
when we do that : 23.00 - 16.00 we get 7 hrs not the 17 hrs which you solved initially?
