When the leading coefficient is an integer less than or greater than 1, we can use the AC method to avoid trial and error. Then you can solve for your zeros.
Multiply the leading coefficient and constant term together. Then find wto integers that multiply to their product and add up to the coefficient of the middle term.
2 * 5 = 10
What two numbers multiply to 10 and add to -11? That would be -1 and -10. So now we can rewrite the equation as
2x2 - 10x - x + 5 = 0
Factor by grouping, we get
2x(x - 5) - (x - 5) = 0
The common factor is (x - 5).
(x - 5)(2x - 1) = 0
Now you can solve.
