Ionic bond between elements

Question

would you expect the ionic bond that exists between potassium and fluorine to be stronger or weaker than the ionic bond that exists between magnesium and oxygen? And why?

For this one, charge charge and charge!!!

 

MgO is Mg²⁺ and O^2-   TWO attracting TWO charges...

KF is K⁺ and F^-            ONE attracting ONE charges... 

 

MgO requires more energy (electrical energy) to separate it

into its composing elements, Mg and O₂, than KF to K and F₂.

 

Check them out!!!

 

There are a lot of Mg²⁺ in the sea water but it costs a lot

of energy (electricity or otherwise) to change it to Mg metal.
