8x - 3y = 7
-3y = -8x + 7
y = 8/3 x - 7/3
A perpendicular line means that the slope of our new line is going to be the negative reciprocal of our original slope, so that means it's going to be -3/8
Now we use the point-slope formula:
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Input the values:
y - 6 = -3/8(x - 1)
y - 6 = -3/8 x + 3/8
y = -3/8 x + 6 3/8
or:
y = -3/8 x + 51/8
