Use square root property to solve (2x)^2=24 ?

Hi, I've tried several times but cannot figure it out.

(2x)²=24

 

We can take the square root of both sides

 

√(2x)²=√24

 

The √ and the ² on the left side cancel one another and we have

 

2x = ±√24

 

Now if we factor 24, we get, 2³3, so the square root of 24 is 2√6

 

Continuing

2x = ±2√6

 

Divide both sides by 2

 

x = ±√6
