4k + mn = n - 3
Step one, let's move all of the n-variables to one side:
4k + mn - mn = n - 3 - mn
4k = n - mn - 3
Next let's move all of the non-n values to the other side:
4k + 3 = n - mn - 3 + 3
4k + 3 = n - mn
Now we can factor out n:
4k + 3 = n(1 - m)
Now to finally isolate n, we divide both sides by what's in the parentheses:
(4k + 3) / (1 - m) = n(1 - m) / (1 - m)
That leaves us with:
4k + 3/1 - m = n
