The sum of a 3-digit number and a 1-digit number is 217. The product of the numbers is 642. If one number is between 200-225,what are the numbers?

Here is the best way for a 9 year old to answer at school.  I had to correct this one as everything I found online was not for 4th grade.
 
One of the numbers is between 200-225 assuming you know product mean multiply lets get to work.  Lets start with 225 - Well 225 x 2 = 450 Well thats not enough so let try 3 (as the other number is a 1 digit number)
 
225 x 3 = 675 (Needs to be 642 per the above)
lets try
220 x 3 = 660 (still too high looking for 642)
219 x 3 = 657
217 x 3 = 651
214 x 3 = 642 (this must be it)
214+3 = 217 ( this works out with the first part of the question.
 
This means the two numbers are 214 and 3
