Cambri,
Watering lawn during the day time is not a water conservation technique since during the daytime sun rays are intense and rate of evaporation is higher. much water is evaporated from lawn during the day time. Ideally, lawns are watered either early in the morning or late in the evening; in that way more water is absorbed deep in the soil, it remains either moist or retains water for plant/grass roots to get water from soil. It indeed is waste of water when lawn are watered during the day.
All other three approaches conserve water either through careful usage or natural resources (Climate-appropriate landscaping) of water conservation.
Hope this helps.
