1+1+1+1+11+1+1+1+11+1×0+1=

Would I follow PEMDAS  while solving this equation? I have come up with answer 30 following operations but have been told that is incorrect.

The question asker is informing me that the answer is 1. I can see how they arrive at this answer, however shouldn't they be following operations? Shouldn't we always follow operations?

They themselve did not create the question it was intended to be a fun simple brain teaser however it has stirred up quite the debate.

For the answer to be 1, you would need to place parentheses around all of the additions preceding the multiplication, as follows:

(1+1+1+1+11+1+1+1+11+1)×0 + 1= 29×0 + 1 = 0 + 1 = 1

Without the parentheses, you need to do the multiplication 1×0 = 0 first, then do the remaining additions:

1+1+1+1+11+1+1+1+11+(1×0)+1= 1+1+1+1+11+1+1+1+11 + 0 +1 = 30

BTW, did you change the final operation to +, or did I just misread it as x in my answer below?
