General Music

General Music

I have been involved with learning General music for 15 years. With all of the knowledge I have gained through school, I have a great understanding of what is needed to learn with the basics. This involves how to read rhythm and notes and understanding the basic fundamentals.
Music History

Music History

As a music historian, I have experience in teaching music history in many different ways. At Shenandoah University, I currently serve as a Teaching Assistant for the Western Music History courses, where I assist with teaching Music History from the Medieval to Modern music, over the course of two semesters. At Hagerstown Community College, I serve as Adjunct Instructor of Music Appreciation, where I teach Music Appreciation for general education students. My Music Appreciation course serves as an introductory course the general music concepts and terminology, and a skim of music history from the Medieval to Modern, all within one semester.

Knowledgeable and an Amazing Teacher

James was very patient with my son. He taught him how to hold the flute the right way and different patterns and techniques. I'm so glad I chose James for a tutor. His communication is top notch and he responds very fast. I loved how at the end he gave my son pointers to practice until his next lesson. You don't meet to many teachers that care about music and the child.
