Spanish teacher with 7 years of classroom experience at the high school level. My first teaching position, however, was in Granada, Spain where I taught English at a rural school near Granada, Spain having won a fellowship after university graduation.
Although my bachelors is in Spanish Language and Literature I am studying TESOL at American University where I have completed 12 credits in language assessment, second language acquisition and linguistics.
My classes are engaging and personalized. For my athlete students, I find articles and clips about their sport that we build language around. I do the same for the interests of my other students, thereby making their connection to the language personal and intrinsic. In our tutoring sessions, there will be music, video and games! Because I am a teacher, I can help you liaise with your student's teacher in a way that will help us understand how to help your student.
I use real world media to foster your interest in the language. Grammar and vocabulary will be reinforced with music! Additionally I will use current events via the news to reinforce concepts and promote conversation skills. My years of experience in Spain and in the classroom provide me with unique material to bring this language to life!
Language learning is about communication and should be fun! No more conjugation drills. Tutor with me and you will increase your confidence in Spanish and have fun doing it.
