I have a Computer Science Bachelor's from the University of Virginia. In University I helped other University students improve their programming and theoretical knowledge via tutoring. After University, I taught at ID Tech camp for a month as an instructor teaching Java, Python, and Scratch to Middle school, Highschool, and Elementary school students. I also have volunteered for Civic Tech groups like Code For Cville, created my own projects, and have worked with Start Up companies such as Umee.
I focus on engaging my students so that they can better learn the topics and so that they enjoy it and continue learning on their own. I focus on developing active thinking and learning within my students. I also which to show them the depths of the technology and skills they are working with so that they can have a greater grasp on what they are working with and so they have the mental tools to further their learning in and outside of class.
As a student at UVA and as a programmer I have developed real world skills with technology which I can use to engage and teach my students. I know what they will need for the real world. This also gives me a greater knowledge of the theoretical and practical elements of the technologies that I will be teaching my students.
