Hi!! My name is Tevenia. I have always had a knack for math ever since I was a child, despite what my course of study may suggest. In high school I was always in accelerated math classes and I was a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. Hi!! My name is Tevenia. I have always had a knack for math ever since I was a child, despite what my course of study may suggest. In high school I was always in accelerated math classes and I was a member of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. I spent my free period during junior and senior year, tutoring fifth graders in math at the local elementary school, and after school I tutoring AVID students at my old middle school. It is my dream to make STEM education less daunting and more fun; to help them see that just because it's hard, doesn't mean they aren't good at it.

I currently work full time as a Project Coordinator for an electrical infrastructure company. I am working towards my MS in Construction Management and look forward to a long career in the construction sector.

  • Rate details: The rate will increase by $5 for every 1-2 subjects (i.e. 2-3 subjects is $50/hr, 4+ subjects is $55/hr). If cancelled with less than 24hrs notice, the student will be charged for a 30min session.

I was an elementary math and middle school math tutor throughout high school. My senior year, I proposed the idea of my Calculus class taking a group of advanced and gifted 5th graders and teaching them basic algebra skills to prepare them for advanced math in middle school. My teacher took my idea to heart and we each paired off with a 5th grader. The plan went off without a hitch, the students were able to master between 5 and 10 lessons in the three weeks that we worked with them all because they were given individual attention and encouragement. I now volunteer at a daycare center in Norfolk and help the kindergarten and first graders with their homework on a daily basis after school.

I was a pre-algebra tutor all throughout high school for the AVID program at Great Neck Middle School. The students that I tutored showed significant improvement over about a month because of the one-on-one attention they received.

I have been a debater for almost 7 years and started off with a stutter and lack of focus. Also, I am an International Thespian, which means that I have 5 years of experience on stage, be it acting, directing, or stage managing. These two activities have given me the tools to help children to become better public speakers.

I have grounded, pleaded, lectured, enforced...all to no avail. I searched tutors for Spanish 1 and found WyzAnt. I was desperate and posted my request. Tevenia contacted me within 30 minutes and was available to start the next day. I was wary, but knowing I needed to get my daughter the help she needed I went for it. Tevenia was prompt arriving at my house and there was never an uncomfortable moment. She is young, energetic and she immediately started tutoring.
