Adaptable Bilingual Elementary School Teacher

Hello, I’m Sofia! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education from Old Dominion University. My educational journey has provided me with a strong foundation in teaching strategies, child development, and classroom management, with a particular focus on accommodating diverse learning needs. During my time in college, I had the opportunity to work closely with students in various classroom settings, which reinforced my passion for education and helping students succeed.

I have gained hands-on experience through my student teaching internship in a 4th-grade classroom, where I supported students in subjects such as science, math, and language arts. I’ve also worked with English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with special needs, tailoring my approach to meet each student’s unique learning style. I use a combination of methods to make learning engaging, such as introducing topics in a fun way, followed by guided practice and independent work. I adjust my approach depending on the subject and the specific needs of each student.

In addition to my classroom experience, I’ve also volunteered as a tutor, working with students individually and in small groups. I strive to create an inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable and motivated to ask questions. My goal as a tutor is to provide the support students need while fostering their confidence in their abilities. I’m always open to feedback from students and parents and am committed to being responsive and accessible for any additional questions or tutoring needs.
