I am qualified to teach medical school students anatomy and physiology as I have completed my first and second years of medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), excelling in all my examinations. During my time as an M2, I tutored M1 students at EVMS and would love to continue tutoring. Additionally, I have earned a Master’s in Medical Sciences, which covered content from the preclerkship phase and included some MCAT material. This background enables me to help students strengthen their foundational knowledge, excel in their preclerkship in-house exams, and prepare effectively for STEP 1.
My teaching approach involves asking students to bring questions or topics they find confusing, which I then explain and expand upon as needed. I also emphasize learning through practice questions and exams, as this method helps students identify and address their weak areas. Practice questions are invaluable for building understanding and confidence! I enjoy using tools like a whiteboard or iPad to visually illustrate concepts, especially when images are helpful—such as when teaching the brachial plexus.
Previously, I taught high school students to prepare them for the SAT. More recently, I have tutored M1 students, primarily in person, though I have also conducted virtual sessions via Zoom or Google Meet for students unable to attend in person. I adapt my teaching to align with each student’s preferred learning style and enjoy offering new study tips and methods when needed. While I generally tutor one-on-one, I have also conducted small group sessions (2-3 students) to ensure that each student receives adequate attention and support.
Overall, my teaching experience spans high school, college, and first-year medical students. I am passionate about helping students succeed and look forward to continuing to teach and support learners!
