Hello, my name is Tom, and I am excited to teach you! I am currently a rising 4th year student attending University of Texas at Austin as mathematics major, where I got A's in most of my math classes there. I got all A's in my secondary school math courses as well. I also did a Computer Science certificate.

I have worked as part-time math instructor at Mathnasium of Plano for year while I was high school senior. Also, while I was 2nd year student at UT Austin, I did part-time private tutoring in math in Fall 2020 to 2 students (one in elementary school and other one in middle school). I did part-time private tutoring in all 4 core subjects of secondary school in Spring 2021 to middle-school student. What I love about tutoring is that I love the idea of helping people understand material, learn independently, and reach their goals to their satisfaction. I adore that they become happy once they are more successful as student.

While I was working in Mathnasium, all students enjoyed my way of teaching/guiding them through math problems. They thought I was entertaining, relatable to them, and nice. I related their math problems to real-world applications in order to keep them engaged. As private tutor, 2 students who I tutored liked me as person and as tutor as well. They felt that they made progress in Math. In addition, in terms of my teaching style, when students are stuck on math problems, I guide them through solving problems themselves. I also explain to them what problems are about and how to approach them. Moreover, I ask students few questions along the way in order to make sure that they are not lost or confused in the learning process.

Book lesson with me, so I can make you excited about math because it is all about comprehending the material well and practicing some math problems. Also, contact me through the Wyzant platform if you have any questions since I am pretty approachable, and I respond promptly to messages! Practice makes perfect. I will help you reach your goals to your happiness!

ACT Math

ACT Math

I took the ACT during the beginning of my junior year of high school, and I scored a 33 out of 36 on the math section, which is still pretty high. I could have scored a little higher if I remembered to convert between radians and degrees on some of the trigonometry questions.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 Honors in 8th grade, and I got a 100 average in both semesters. I was supposed to skip it because I passed the Algebra 1 Honors credit-by-exam, but I just personally decided at the end not to skip it. Also, I obtained a perfect score on the Algebra 1 EOC (in which in Texas, it's more like a STAAR test but for high school). Moreover, Algebra 1 was one of the subjects I taught in Mathnasium of Plano, and students were able to understand it better after my assistance.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I took Algebra 2 Honors in 10th grade with the harshest teacher possible, and I got a 99 1st semester and a 100 2nd semester. Moreover, Algebra 2 was one of the subjects I taught in Mathnasium of Plano, and students were able to understand it better after my assistance.
Calculus

Calculus

I took BC Calculus AP in 12th grade, and I got a 97 1st semester and a 94 2nd semester. I even obtained a 5 on the AP exam, including the AB Calculus subscore. Moreover, Calculus was one of the subjects I taught in Mathnasium of Plano, and students were able to understand it better after my assistance.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I took a Discrete Mathematics class in the Mathematics department at UT Austin, but the honors version of it (which is only offered during the spring semester), during Spring 2020 with one of the nation's top math professors. Only very few people get accepted to it (i.e., between 11 and 13 people), and I was clearly among those people; I ended up passing the class, which is amazing. The material we covered was Graph Theory, Group Theory, and then Real Analysis, which is way beyond/more difficult than what is covered in a normal Discrete Math class. In addition, I had to improve a little upon my proof-writing skills in the middle of my undergraduate time at UT Austin, so I self-studied most of normal Discrete Math (logic, all types of proof-writing techniques, set theory, and functions) from a well-written textbook, and it made perfect sense to me.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I got an A's and A+'s in Honors Prealgebra classes when I took them in 6th and 7th grade. Moreover, Prealgebra subjects were some of the subjects I taught in Mathnasium of Plano, and students were able to understand it better after my assistance. Lastly, I private tutored 2 8th-grade students in Prealgebra, mainly 8th grade math, and they seemed to really appreciate and understand the material after I explained to them concepts really proficiently.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I took Precalculus Honors in 11th grade with the harshest teacher possible, and I got a 97 in both semesters. Moreover, Precalculus was one of the subjects I taught in Mathnasium of Plano, and students were able to understand it better after my assistance.
Python

Python

I completed my Elements of Computing (Computer Science) Certificate in Spring 2022. Most of the classes there were coding in Python. I got an A in the intro Python coding class. Furthermore, in my free time, I code in Python a lot, so I improve upon my Python coding skills over time.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I took the SAT during the spring of my sophomore year of high school, and I only missed 3 questions on the math section, which is still pretty amazing. In addition, I took the SAT Math level 2 subject test, and I scored a 780 out of 800 on it, which is still a high score.
