I have been teaching math for over 10 years. I have taught Algebra 1 for the last five years in Texas. I also have experience teaching 6th grade math. I was employed as an Algebra 1 Team Leader at my last two schools, in which I created the pacing calendar for instruction, created math assessments, developed a self-paced online course with EOC test preparation materials, lead meetings to discuss student progress data, and helped teachers generate creative teaching strategies.

I have tutored students afterschool for the last 5 years. My tutoring methods include modeling while the student observes or takes notes, asking guided questions to ensure the student understands, and allowing the student to practice the newly learned skill. I then will review the student's work and give feedback that will help the student identify any misconceptions, increase understanding, and prevent future errors. If a student is struggling, I like to identify their strengths and weaknesses so that I can meet them where they are academically and help them to grow from there. I believe that math helps students to become logical thinkers, problem solvers, and develops reasoning skills that can last a lifetime.

Additionally, I am very familiar with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). I can help students successfully prepare for the Texas Algebra 1 STAAR EOC Exam. I am highly knowledgeable in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 skills. I can help students easily understand concepts they may struggle with on their own or in class. I can help students complete assignments, prepare for a test or final exam, or just general practice and study skills. I can meet in-person or online. I am very patient and willing to work at your student's pace.
