About Lindsay

Bio

I enjoy science and teaching others to love and appreciate the biological world around us. I'm a Houstonian but lived in Austin for 10 years and learned to love the Earth and living things more than I ever had before.

The importance of understanding our world in a time of increased global warming takes great precedence when telling my "why". I often quote the Lorax and my favorite movie, of course, is GATTACA (those who don't know, its the letter of DNA).

I have my teaching certifications for Texas in Science 4-8, Science 7-12, Life Science 7-12, and ESL K-12. My undergrad degrees are Biology and Secondary Education from Concordia University Texas. My graduate degree is in Biological Sciences from Texas A&M Commerce.

I have a decade now of contracted years of teaching experience but have been tutoring since I was in highschool as part of a Peer Tutoring Club. In college, I was an AVID tutor. Then, I was observing 180 hours before my student teaching portion of teaching college at CTX. Then - my time as a full time science teacher began and I have not ever considered doing anything else! I do have 2 young children of my own and love the convienience of online tutoring. I am a full time virtual teacher - and am an expert at virtual instruction.

Current AP Instructor with Accuplacer Test Administration Experience. I have taught AP and used College Board and their services extensively. Last spring I was an Accuplacer test administrator for our online high school. This allows our seniors to graduate and be more likely to be placed into their school and programs of choice. I understand the parameters of Accuplacer and can instruct and help with prep of content knowledge but mainly how to 'beat the test'.
