It is my passion to help students surprise themselves by mastering material that they did not think that they could, to make "scary" subjects manageable if not outright fun. I seek to help students understand the material at a deeper level through asking a lot of questions and building a framework on analogies and prior knowledge.

It is my passion to help students surprise themselves by mastering material that they did not think that they could, to make "scary" subjects manageable if not outright fun. I seek to help students understand the material at a deeper level through asking a lot of questions and building a framework on analogies and prior knowledge.

My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in zoology from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a secondary composite science teaching certificate requiring several hours in chemistry and physics. I have been teaching and tutoring for over twenty-six years, including the past twenty-one teaching physics and chemistry at a private school in the Dallas area.

I have taught all levels of first year physics and chemistry and have built from scratch a successful Advanced Placement program for AP Physics 1, AP Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, and AP Chemistry. In addition, I have tutored several college students in college chemistry either during the term or prior to taking the course for them to feel prepared at the start.

Feel free to contact me if you would like more information or to get started gaining confidence in chemistry or physics!

The best Chemistry/Physics/Math tutor, bar none.

I've been through undergad, a masters program, and now onto medical school and I've never had a teacher/tutor that could break down chemistry and physics as simply, clearly, and friendly as David can. Physics and Chem have always been my weak points, and David has been able to break down concepts so simply, and share cool tips and tricks to use for the future. I cant tell you how many times I wished he was my actual professor. One night while working on some physics prep, I mentioned out of nowhere that I was struggling with my chem class and was stressed about an exam the next day. He asked "What topics? Want to work on some of that afterwards too?". And just like that, on the spot, we worked through my physics issues and chem back to back. It's a tiny anecdote, but it's reflective of how flexible, prepared, approachable, and skilled he is as a tutor. After many tutoring sessions, hes always had that same attitude and supportive mentality. Thanks so much, David. I wouldnt have pulled off these grades without your help!

Knowledgeable, caring, and thorough tutor

I struggled with physics a lot in high school, so I searched for a physics 1 tutor who would be knowledgeable and patient. David explained concepts very well using visuals and real-life scenarios and gave helpful problem-solving strategies. He was very efficient in his teaching; we were able to get through a lot of problems in our short 1-hour sessions. He asked a lot of follow-up questions that reinforced and deepened my understanding of the content. David always requested that I update him after my exams went and always offered words of encouragement. I ended the class with an A thanks to David!

Knowledgeable and flexible tutor.

David worked with us to find a time that worked for my son to meet with him. He provided excellent instruction that helped my son begin to better understand his AP Physics course from the very first session.

Great teacher who helped raise grades

David tutored both of my kids for over a year. My first improved his Chem H grade and then gained the confidence to take AP Chem. He crushed the AP exam and now likes Chem. He met with Dave once a week and said Dave was a great teacher. My second raised his grade from C to A and got several 100s. I recommend Dave as a teacher and suggest regular sessions so your student can stay on track.

Knowledgeable, responsive, and patient

David coordinated with me over several days to make sure he would be the best fit tutor. He was so patient and helpful. The material (honors-level physics) that other tutors had struggled with was clearly well within his ability to teach. Thank you!

Makes Physics Easy

David has a way to breakdown complex physics problems into easy to understand components. This has been very helpful in gaining a deeper understanding of the topic.

very knowledgeable and great at explaining

I had a physics lesson with David and he was able to explain everything in a very clear and intuitive way. He also caught all the mistakes I originally made. Highly recommend!

Knowledgeable tutor that is great at explaining subject to students

David is teaching my son basics of physics in such a way that he is engaged and doing well in the class. My son is motivated to learn subject and do well, after dropping out of physics a year and a half ago.
