Bio

I’m Sara! I’m an undergraduate engineering student at Texas A&M University, and have been tutoring math for over 5 years. My first student was my brother, who has ADHD and dyscalculia. Teaching him made me realize how important it is for students to have access to personalized instruction, and it also showed me how much I enjoy providing that experience. As a college student, I feel very connected to the students that I tutor, as I was likely going through their coursework only a few years...

As a college student, I feel very connected to the students that I tutor, as I was likely going through their coursework only a few years ago. I think being able to relate to my students is so important in the tutoring process. I like to get to know them to better understand what they need and to help them feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their struggles with me. I’m familiar with many different learning styles, and I personalize the strategies that I use based on what works best for each student. I usually like to work through homework and study guides with students, and can create my own practice problems and resources once I’m familiar with their needs. I like to guide students through problems, allowing them to try on their own, catching their mistakes, and providing explanations and strategies to improve their success rate.

I’ve taught around 20 high school age students, and have helped raise grades in Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, and more. I’ve worked with a few students in late elementary to middle school, and am open to students of any age and level of need. I have a 4.0 in my engineering coursework and I scored a 1560 on my SAT. I’m open to helping students with any subject, including SAT prep, English, Chemistry and Physics, though my specific area of expertise is high school math since I have the most experience with this.

I really enjoy helping students gain confidence and love to see them progress. I look forward to meeting with you, and will always respond quickly to any questions or requests. Don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m happy to provide more information or schedule a session!
