I am thrilled to share my journey in science and education, beginning with my graduation from the University of Texas at Austin with a BSA with Distinction in Biology and a minor in Business, where I earned University Honors for my last 3 semesters. Currently, I am furthering my academic pursuits at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies, where I have maintained a 4.0 GPA so far. My academic journey is complemented by several years of dedicated involvement in the STEM disciplines, during which I have accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge. During my undergrad, starting in 2017, I volunteered to tutor students one-on-one in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Mathematics, and MCAT preparation. This experience reinforced my understanding and commitment to educational outreach, tailoring my approach to individual student needs for personalized learning.

I advocate a three-step learning process: direct instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. This philosophy ensures that students are exposed to new information in multiple contexts, enhancing their understanding and retention. For example, after explaining a concept, I show it in action through examples or experiments, and then encourage the student to apply the concept themselves, providing a comprehensive learning experience that prepares them well for any evaluations.

One of my most rewarding experiences involved using visual learning techniques to guide a student through the complexities of organic chemistry. By incorporating diagrams, visual aids, and step-by-step visual walkthroughs of chemical reactions, I was able to demystify abstract concepts, making them more accessible and less intimidating. This approach not only improved the student's confidence and performance but also highlighted the effectiveness of visual learning in understanding complex subjects.

Biology

Biology

With a BSA in Biology, I am currently advancing my studies as an MS candidate in Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies. My foundational undergraduate work included courses in introductory biology, human biology, human physiology, genetics, and evolution. These were complemented by graduate-level studies in gene therapy and cutting-edge laboratory techniques. My experience is bolstered by research and practical application in the dynamic field of regenerative medicine, positioning me as a knowledgeable resource in both the academic and applied aspects of contemporary biology.
Chemistry

Chemistry

With a BSA in Biology and current enrollment in an MS program specializing in Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies, I bring a strong foundation in chemistry to my expertise. My undergraduate coursework included General Chemistry 1 & 2, Organic Chemistry 1&2, along with hands-on experience in chemistry laboratory settings. Additionally, I explored the intersection of chemistry and biology through Biochemistry courses, further enhancing my understanding of molecular processes. My passion for chemistry drives my pursuit of advanced knowledge in regenerative medicine, where I apply chemical principles to innovative research in stem cell technologies.
Genetics

Genetics

As a BSA graduate in Biology now pursuing an MS with a focus on genetics and stem cell technology, I've built a solid foundation in genetic principles, complemented by applied stem cell research. My educational background includes extensive coursework in genetics, evolution, and human physiology. I've also engaged in graduate-level studies specific to gene therapy, bridging the gap between theoretical genetics and practical regenerative applications. This combination of detailed study and active research has honed my expertise in the genetic underpinnings of regenerative medicine.

Knowledgeable!

Ray has been a fantastic tutor, he is very knowledgeable, patient, and works with your schedule. I feel like I’ve received a lot of clarity on the topics in chemistry I was struggling with. Ray was able to break up concepts and explain them in a way I could understand them. I recommend him to anyone looking for a chem tutor!

Knows his stuff, and very patient!

I needed help with an assignment from my 5000 level biochemistry course at uni, and I had several tutors turn me away because they didn't know how to help me. Ray not only agreed to tutor me, but clearly knew what he was talking about and was able to answer all of my questions about the material! He actually gave me time to pause and think so I could come up with an answer, and he made sure I understood what he meant before moving on. Excellent tutor, would definitely recommend!

Last Minute Rescue, and Helpful!

I highly recommend Ray as he helped me go over the problems I had trouble with on my exam. He was able to explain thoroughly to help me understand formulas and determine pH levels. I was eager to find a last-minute tutor and Ray was able to squeeze me in with my hectic schedule!
