I graduated college in the early 90s with a BA in both Psychology and Elementary Education. I then attended Penn State for my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and also received certifications as a K-12 Reading Specialist, K-12 Writing Instruction Specialist, and PreK-12 Principal.
I have tutored along the way while working. I also have two kids (one now in college, one in high school) who have had the benefit of mom as a reading and writing teacher. My experience as a teacher has helped all students I have had the opportunity to work with become successful readers and writers.
I have tutored in the areas of SAT Reading and Writing, as well as essay writing, spelling, reading, vocab, comprehension, inference, and understanding of non-fiction. A focus that kids seem to also need is understanding how to breakdown the analyzing of text, cause/effect, evaluating, and inferencing.
Working with me will help you as a student become more successful in the areas of reading and writing that you find are more difficult for you to do. The earlier you learn how to break down information whether it be in reading or writing, the easier it will be as you make your way through high school, testing, and college.
