Hi! My name is Lauren. I went to Ohio University and double majored in Psychology and English. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in English. I also have an Associate’s degree in Registered Nursing from Owens College.

Hi! My name is Lauren. I went to Ohio University and double majored in Psychology and English. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in English. I also have an Associate’s degree in Registered Nursing from Owens College.

After graduating from OU, I worked in a psychiatric unit as a Mental Health Professional. The job entailed patient teaching in both 1:1 and small group settings. This is what started my love for teaching and helped shape the way that I tutor students today. Every patient was different and had different ways of learning. I find this to be true of my students as well. In the Psych unit, it was often challenging and took trial and error to find the best way to teach each individual patient. But it also helped me gain confidence that a relationship between teacher and student that works best for both can always be found with a little hard work and elbow grease! My professional work experience has carried over into my tutoring approach. Another thing that has contributed to my tutoring style is my son. He has Autism and didn’t talk until he was 4 years old. This led to finding creative ways to communicate with him but more importantly taught me art of patience. I assure you I will always be patient whether it takes 1 or 100 lessons on the same topic.

I have 10 years experience tutoring students in 7th-12th grade. During the pandemic I home schooled for 1.5 years. In addition to Psych, English and ELA I offer help in Writing, Proofreading and Editing. I am very quick to respond and am often available for last minute requests. I appreciate a cancellation notice so that I can open that time slot for any last minute requests.
